Pregnancy Test Kit Recalls

A home pregnancy kit recall happens now and then due to potential problems that might arise in a product. Although not often it happens sometimes. Most of the time we don’t hear any problem with them.

It was the year 1978 when the first home pregnancy kit came to the market. It was the EPT which stands for Early Pregnancy Test and now it is called the Error Proof Test. Now-a-days there are many products that are flooded in the market for doing pregnancy tests.

Recalls of Pregnancy Test Kit

The Harmony Brands, B-Sure pregnancy test kit was recalled in the year 2005 due to problems unknown to the public. They said that they withdraw that product due to safety issues and efficacy issues. They assured of a refund if people have not used that product and they would return it to the manufacturer. People who have used it to test pregnancy were asked to check the doctor as the result might not be correct. These kits were sold in the dollar stores and the convenience stores.

There was a Canadian manufacturer who sold pregnancy test kits over internet and sent them in envelopes to the customers. This company was also selling test kits for HIV and syphilis. It is said that the company Global Media did not have the FDA approval to sell products in the United States.

Another company which sold New Choice, a pregnancy test kit, has warned that their product is not approved in Canada in the year 2005. If a company has to sell such products in the United States of America, they have to get the approval of the FDA.

Home Preg Kits - Their convenience

It has been more than 30 years since the first kit came into the market. Since then there were only very few issues related to home pregnancy kits. These kits made our life easier by reducing the time and money that we spent to check pregnancy.

Before it came to the market we had to visit the doctor’s office and give a sample of urine to test. The results were got only afer even 2 weeks. Now the pregnancy kits has made life much easier for us.
