EPT early pregnancy test

EPT is the first home early pregnancy test kit that hit the market in the year 1978. At that time the EPT meant early pregnancy test. But at present the EPT means error proof test. The reason is there are some other tests that can detect the pregnancy earlier than EPT.

In the year 1993, consumer reports tested nearly 18 home pregnancy test kits and revealed their findings in the CBS ‘the early show. In that finding and the listing EPT test could not find place one or two. This was a big surprise considering the seniority of the test in arrival.

The EPT early pregnancy test is not that sensitive to HCG, the pregnancy hormone as compared to the first response test .hence could not confirm the pregnancy much earlier. Though this test cannot detect the pregnancy as early as some other pregnancy test like first response test, the reliability of the test is excellent. Likewise the test kit is easy to use and the results can be read with ease.

This EPT early pregnancy test has gone digital. As far as the procedure of the test is concerned it is much similar to the non digital model. But the digital model is provided with a holder to hold the strip before and after the use. The result will be in the form of words instead of lines. One can see PREGNANT in case of a positive test and NOT PREGNANT in case of negative test.

The non digital model of the EPT early pregnancy test is also equally reliable and very easy to use. In this model the test strip should be held in the flow of urine for 5 minutes and should be placed on a flat surface. In a matter of 2-3 minutes one will see either plus or minus according to the result of the test.

Compared with olden days the results of the test can be got very quickly now days. When the test first came in to the market, one need to wait for more than two hours, to get the result. because at those days the urine was to be collected in a cup, mixed in the test tube with all other ingredients [one such ingredient is red blood cells of sheep] using a medicine dropper.

After mixing the urine with the other ingredients one must keep the test tube in a dark corner of the room and must wait for two hours. Then the test tube must be placed on a mirror and viewed for the presence of dark circle in case of a positive test.

The present home pregnancy tests are declaring the results in a matter of few minutes, thanks to the advancement in technology. Meeting the doctor after confirming the pregnancy using EPT early pregnancy test is the best thing to do for the betterment of mother and the child.
